As any pastor can
tell you, for a church to effectively
fulfill its mission, those in
the body of Christ must step
forward and minister to one
another with their gifts and
talents. At CCDC, there are
many people involved in a wide
variety of ministries -- some
of which perhaps don't draw
as much attention as others.
While it's easy to take some
of these ministries for granted,
we all would surely miss them
if they weren't there. The tape
ministry is no doubt in this
category.
Through items that range from
Sunday-morning tapes to retreat
packages, the tape ministry
has blessed many of us -- many
times over! Rob LoRusso, who
oversees this ministry, says
the team's vision is to share
the Word of God with as many
people as possible. He's found
that many people will not only
order a tape of the Sunday morning
service they've just attended,
but will also ask for one from
the previous Wednesday night
service. The same type of thing
happens on Wednesday nights.
People are hungry to learn more
of the Word of God and they
also desire to share what they've
learned with others. The tape
ministry can be an excellent
tool for doing both.
If you think about it, many
of us spend a considerable amount
of time traveling to and from
work. A teaching tape in your
car cassette player can help
you redeem the time. Another
benefit of having these tapes
is that they're such a blessing
for the elderly and for shut-ins
who may have difficulty making
it to a church service. In these
situations, the tapes become
a vital extension of the ministry
of Pastor Bob and CCDC.
Rob and Pastor Bob have initiated
several changes aimed at improving
how the tape ministry can serve
CCDC. Just recently, all the
heads on the tape-copying machines
were refinished, and a new tape
deck for recording the tapes
during the service has been
put into use. This has greatly
improved the quality of the
tapes produced.
Also, there are efforts under
way to establish a complete
catalog of the tapes. Obviously
this will take some time, but
it's hoped that this will enable
the ministry to most effectively
share the excellent messages
given by Pastor Bob over the
years. any of these messages
were delivered before a large
portion of our congregation
joined us and would be very
useful for filling any gaps
in one's Bible studies.
The last, and probably most
exciting, change in the ministry
is the recent influx of young
volunteers willing to help out.
Right now there's a great balance
of young and old working side
by side to bless the body of
Christ.
What better testimony to a ministry
can you have?
