Lisa Merideth is Home.

The ccdelco family is deeply saddened by the passing of Lisa Merideth, former staff member and incredibly devoted follower of Jesus. Below is the update sent out from Pastor Bob Guaglione.

This is the eNews I never expected to write. Late last night I was informed that Lisa Merideth passed away. Many of you know that Lisa had been battling a rare illness for more than 20 months. Yesterday God called her home.

Lisa was a member of our staff for 15 years, and she was a major catalyst for who we are as a church today. She literally touched thousands of lives. It would be almost impossible to walk 10 feet through our atrium without bumping into someone who Lisa mentored, adopted, inspired, or discipled. Student ministry, women's ministry, missions partners (IJM, House on Beekman, Chester) –– Lisa handled an incredible amount of "church" with an ease that is unmatched in our staff history. To this day, she was and is the only person who could ever convince me to let 100+ students turn our campus into a campground each summer. I truly admired her.

When Lisa fell ill and could barely leave the house, she continued to minister by leading women’s Bible studies on Facebook. I never once heard her complain. Lisa and her husband have always lived by the motto, "Life is ministry and ministry is life." These last two years, I saw that become truer and more purer than ever.

Today, I feel like I lost two people at the same time: a colleague, and a friend. Lisa and I fought side by side through the ups and downs of ministry. We laughed a lot, disagreed a lot, dreamed a lot, and tried to give this community our absolute best. She gave me the greatest gift she could ever give a pastor –– she was on my team, not out of duty or because I deserved it, but because she deeply loved God and was a believer in His Church.

If you go to ccdelco, your life has been touched by Lisa Merideth. It's really that simple. Even in her death, Lisa has been inspiring me to love God more and seek Him more deeply. She died exactly how she lived––pointing people to the Lord. I will always thank God that He led Lisa and David to this community. It was one of the great honors of my life to serve beside her.

Lisa, may your legacy live on in the people you loved and the wonderful family you raised. I will see you again.

A memorial service for Lisa is still in the works but will likely be held on a Saturday in early November 13 at ccdelco. Save the date and keep a look out for the official announcement. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating toward International Justice Mission (IJM).
